I am not even sure I remember how to write a blog post lol! I’m joking!

Anyway it has been a real minute since I last posted anything on here. I needed the break to be honest. I had so much pressure, from school and just life in general. I would try plan for shoots and just not have the courage to wake up and follow through. That’s the point I realized I need to restore order in my life for me to be able to get back to blogging. This involved getting done with all my deadlines first. Ooh and how fast has this year flown by?! I can’t believe we are halfway through already! A year truly goes by so fast and if there is a dream/goal you have been putting on hold because you are scared of being away for a year, STOP and GO for whatever it is that you want to do!

I’m listening to ‘Tom Walker – Leave a light on’ and I’m in love with this song! It speaks to me and has me desiring to have a section on my YouTube channel where I have candid conversations….. because if you’ve been through things and you share your experiences, you are leaving the light on for others to find their way should they one day be in the position you are in. (If you haven’t already please subscribe to my YouTube Channel HERE)

For this post I decided to be simple with my outfit. A cute off-shoulder top, black pants and heels =) I have bought so many of these tops I need to stop. But I love how flattering and stylish they are. I feel so dressed up whenever I have one on.

Ps. do you like this kind of editing in my pictures? Trying something new so please comment and let me know =)

TAKING STOCK 1 http://www.missturu.com/taking-stock-1/ http://www.missturu.com/taking-stock-1/#comments Tue, 17 Oct 2017 12:22:19 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1491

Hiya! (Can you guess where that is commonly used?)

I have never had a taking stock on my blog since I started blogging but something makes me feel I should be having them just to keep you updated on what I am up to or what has been happening. So much happens and I never know how to share with you guys so let me know if I should do more of such posts or not!

  1. Life in a new country has been bitter sweet…. I love the experience of being in a new country and I have made amazing friends! I really mean it when I say amazing! However in the same breath some friendships that I valued have become strained but I guess that is life! You can’t have it all can you. Another thing that makes it bitter is how much I miss home!
  2. University life is currently hectic, so much reading but I still try and make time for fun stuff because take it from me All Work and no play makes Turu a dull girl and we can’t have dull and turu in the same line!
  3. Guess what?! I went for J Cole’s concert! If you have me on snapchat I am sure you saw how excited I was for that! At first I wasn’t sure if I should go but you know what?! It’s good to live a little sometimes! I cannot emphasize this enough.
  4. I started going to the gym but I feel I am being counterproductive! I work out and I will be in so much pain the next day but shamelessly have an entire pack of cupcakes or the chocolate coated digestive biscuits! I just had an entire pack of muffins while writing this post! Sigh!
  5. Let’s talk about SPANISH!! Their music is my fave nowadays! Am I the only one who jumps whenever Gente plays? I can bet I’m not! I am actually learning spanish and maybe I will have a YouTube video in Spanish soon…. lol
  6. I will be cutting my hair by the end of this year. I have already chopped a huge chunk of it and I’ll show you a picture once I am confident enough to show you.
  7. Over the moon that it’s almost Sagittarius season and you know what that means?!…. Comment down below if you know what happens and the exact date it takes place =)
  8. Youtube?! I have received this question a million times and I am honestly scared of moving to Youtube but with time maybe I’ll be confident enough to post more. Let me know what your thoughts are.
  9. Questions about babe? Why are you so nosey?! Hahahaha these questions are very funny especially because for every guy I post on my videos on social media someone will ask if that’s bae! But no there’s no bae yet. When he comes you’ll be among the first to know. For now let’s enjoy life and all it has to offer! =)
  10. I will not ignore the elephant in the room, so about This Is Ess and the drama around her…. I was asked what my 2 cents are and here goes….. Leave her alone and live your life. I don’t know what the truth is and at the same time I could careless because we are entitled to live our lives however we please. Correct me if I am wrong.
  11. I have been drinking approximately 10 cups of coffee or tea in A DAY!!! I really wish I did this with water instead lol!As always thank you for reading! I hope you’ve subscribed to my blog!

BLACK & WHITE & SASSY ALL OVER http://www.missturu.com/black-white-sassy-all-over/ http://www.missturu.com/black-white-sassy-all-over/#comments Fri, 06 Oct 2017 12:51:21 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1465

Here goes my first blog post since I left home!

Yaaaay!! I am so proud of myself for making a promise to you and keeping it. Shooting for this post was so much fun! One because I have so many cute places to explore and take pictures from, and I got to work with a girl as my photographer! =)

I took the sun and warmth for granted when I was home! British weather is something else but as a blogger you have to find a way around everything that stands in the way of you and your perfect outfit. If you are ever in the U.K and you want to dress up, invest in thermals! I cannot stress this enough! They have been a life saver to be honest. Living in sweats 24/7 is not my cup of tea that’s why finding out about thermals made me so happy. Yes you can thank me later for those of you already in the U.K or back home during June/July =)

Enough talking, now back to this post, when I was a child my favourite colour was pink, even my room is still painted pink. But as I grew older, I realized I no longer have a fave colour and some of my friends find it so weird.

So when I went out picking outfits, I realized most of what I picked out was either white, black, grey, jungle green or a nude-ish colour and I have officially decided those are my favourite colours for now! lol

In this post I wanted to show you how to be fully covered, warm yet stylish so I hope you love how I paired the outfits. =)

Thank you so much for reading!

I hope you have subscribed to my blog in order to get notifications whenever I have a new blog post up!

IS THIS GOODBYE?.. http://www.missturu.com/is-this-goodbye/ http://www.missturu.com/is-this-goodbye/#comments Sun, 03 Sep 2017 15:54:57 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1430

Happy New Month!

We are in September Fam! =)

I know you are wondering why the heading…. Well it’s NOT GOODBYE but more of I’LL SEE YOU SOON. I have received so many questions asking why I have been receiving goodbye cakes etc. That’s why I decided to share what’s happening on my blog because you have become my family on this space and you deserve to know =)

Remember I said I have news to share in my previous blog post? Well I will be leaving the country I’ve called home for many years for a little while. I won’t be gone for long and before you know it Miss Turu will be back in the 254! I must admit at first I was over the moon about it but I feel so emotional right now and I am learning a lot about this new chapter that’s about start.

Like the fact that so much can change in a year! When this year started what I looked forward to was finishing my pupillage (internship) at a law firm and half way through the year, that is done and I am now packing and getting ready to move to the U.K. a different continent! I’m I sad? NOT AT ALL! I’m I scared a little bit but we should never let fear keep us from experiences!

Let me just say that I have also come to terms with the fact that it’s not who you’ve known the longest in life but who came into your life, set it on fire and never left! This last month (August) I have made so many amazing new friends! Actually I think it’s the first time I have made so many friends within 31 days! And I must admit it sucks leaving behind my family and friends but we thank God for technology =)

In short what I’m saying is ‘Nothing is set in stone, things change all the time, tides change, feelings change, perspectives change but don’t worry just go with the flow but always remember it comes down to YOU and your decisions.

You always decide how your life plays out from the choices you make… so go out there and dare to Dream because Dreams do come true.

As I write this post I’m listening to a song by Ed Sheeran called Happier -And the girl in this song asks — Is it possible that you could meet someone who is perfect for you even though you are committed to someone else?!…..Well I think if you are committed to someone you don’t allow yourself to find perfection in someone else is what the guy said to her… I’m just wondering out loud what are your thoughts about this song?…..  I’ll let you know what I think on my next post =)

Ooh and I am sure you can notice I did things differently this time round, I have two outfits on one blog post. Well pictures make a lengthy post easier to read to the end or so I think.

I sure hope I’ll be able to continue blogging but what I know I’ll definitely do is revive my YouTube Channel so click HERE to subscribe and feel free to make suggestions of what you’d like to see on my channel other than the usual make up videos =)

…. As I end my post, All I can do is trust that God will walk with me through this new phase of my life and that he will also be with you in all that you do and the big steps you take in life.

P.s Thank you for always coming up to say hi whenever we bump into each other in the streets. I appreciate the love and support you show me.

As Always Thank You For Reading.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog and YouTube Channel.

Love Miss Turu =)

SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING OLD….AND NOTHING BLUE! http://www.missturu.com/something-new-something-old-and-nothing-blue/ http://www.missturu.com/something-new-something-old-and-nothing-blue/#comments Fri, 11 Aug 2017 12:32:52 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1387

It’s 3 more months to my birthday! To Christmas! This year has gone by so fast but I’m thankful to God for his mercies and protection so far.

For this blog post, I am wearing something new and something old (thrift-ed that is). This is not my usual post so I will answering a few questions that I am always getting. So here goes….

  1. How do I get content for my blog? Well, when I write I always listen to music and just like that words flow….. listening to Wait for me by Johnny Drille, right now! Such a beautiful song! So if you haven’t listened to it I don’t know what you are waiting for lol.
  2. What foundation do I use?….. I use maybelline or black opal. Mac makes me ashy plus I have never found my shade and I am not good at mixing foundations till I get something that matches my complexion.
  3. Why don’t you post YouTube Videos?…. Well I am kinda scared of the response I will get. Believe it or not but that is a genuine fear! On the bright side, I have convinced one of my friends to shoot a video with me so let’s cross our fingers that it will happen lol
  4. Where do I shop? EVERYWHERE! For example my outfit in this post, My pants are from Vivo, my jacket is from Toy/Toi Market.

5. Do I have a boyfriend?……. Well I will let you know that on my YouTube Video so make sure you subscribe to my channel HERE or you’ll miss out.

6. Will I ever have a house tour? Nope

7. How do I manage to be in law and fashion?…when you love what you do it becomes very easy to juggle the two. But weekdays mostly are law days and my weekends belong to Miss Turu =)

8. What is my fave thing to do aside from blogging? Watching a live band!!! My love for bands is just something else. Ooh and eating cake. I am not sure that counts lol!

Enough with the questions. I hope you enjoy the post!

And remember to be peaceful =)

As always thank you for reading =)

STYLISH BASICS http://www.missturu.com/stylish-basics/ http://www.missturu.com/stylish-basics/#comments Sat, 01 Jul 2017 12:09:18 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1365

I feel like it’s been a while since I last posted on here sorry about that but life has been happening!

It takes so much effort being an adult but I have been enjoying the journey so far! I can’t believe it is July already! Just the other day we were celebrating the new year!

So there will be a few changes happening soon and I’ll tell you all about it on a blog post hopefully in a month’s time so that’s a good reason to keep reading my blog because nobody knows when I’ll spill the beans! Do you guys ever get scared of change or is it just me? =)

So about back to this post, I always felt that jeans are plain and not really stylish when going to elegant occasions but finding this specific pair of jeans changed my life! I had to buy it in two other colours I think you’ve already seen me in the blue ones during the Moet Chandon event a few weeks ago. I must admit getting the perfect top to go with it was the cherry on top!

Hope you enjoy the post =)

Thank you for Reading my blog and please don’t forget to subscribe to my channel =)

Happy New Month!

FRIENDS FOREVER #CRAVINGYELLOWTOO http://www.missturu.com/friendship-at-first-sight/ http://www.missturu.com/friendship-at-first-sight/#comments Thu, 11 May 2017 11:57:06 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1315

Most people I meet rarely match my energy, or they just act shy and reserved but craving yellow sigh! where do I even start?! I guess in this case I can say it was friendship from the word go! She is definitely a ball of sunshine!

Sharing good times with good friends is the greatest joy. This is the stuff that makes life worthwhile. Whether sharing a meal together or a good conversation, there is nothing more fulfilling than spending time with friends. We must be thankful for the friendships that come our way for not all are blessed with the skills to form deep relationships. Those of us that do have friends must never take for granted the gift bestowed upon us. That’s why with Tabitha we will be friends forever =)

And like I always say, surround yourself with happy and positive people and you’ll have a life full of nothing but positive energy. I feel like this post speaks for itself we had so much fun during this shoot it’s unbelievable!

I love Tabitha’s (craving yellow) work and immediately she put up a snap saying she is coming home, I did what most people do nowadays, yap I went straight to her DM 😉 and boy it actually worked and turns out I was on of the people she wanted to meet during her stay in Kenya!

We met the next day at Art caffe and like the saying goes  it was honestly love at first sight! I love how she is full of life and wears a constant smile on her face! And for the bloggers out there I also got to learn a thing or two from her  especially when it comes to the importance of consistency and taking your brand seriously, etc and like she said on her blog we bonded so much over such a short period of time and we talked about everything that two best friends would talk about!

I love people who are full of life and never let disappointments dictate their mood for the rest of the day. Tabitha is exactly like that! We did have our share of mishaps but managed to remain happy through it all & she constantly cracked jokes to ensure I’m okay and not down from what had happened.

Believe me when I say every girl out there needs a Tabitha in their life to encourage you, guide you and keep you smiling through life and it’s huddles. I am so glad I met her as I did not only gain a friend but I now have a big sister. She’s a woman phenomenally.

Click HERE and read what Craving Yellow had to say about our friendship on her blog!

P.s people say we look alike so we would actually pass for real sisters.

For this blog post we picked our outfits from Vivo Activewear and the shoes from Backyard Shoez . It was so much fun picking outfits for this shoot and Yes I’m the one dressed in Yellow in a shoot with Craving yellow….pretty cheesy I know!

As Always Thank You So Much For Stopping By!

LETTER TO MY SISTER….. http://www.missturu.com/letter-to-my-sister/ http://www.missturu.com/letter-to-my-sister/#comments Mon, 01 May 2017 10:49:02 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1297 I have decided to do things differently around here and make this a fashion and informative post!

Well, we all have things that we wish we knew when we were younger. The sad part is that we can’t go back in time and live life again with the knowledge we have acquired in life. I have made a list of 20 things I wish I could tell my younger self but I have opted to name this post ‘Letter to my Sister…’ as I have a younger sister and I would want her to get this advice for free and maybe when she is 24, she’ll look back and thank me!

I am aware I have young readers as well and I consider you my sisters too! That’s why I turned my Letter into a Blog post. Always be your sister’s keeper =)

1. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE! Never let anyone be the one to decide how you feel. Be your biggest cheer leader in all you do! The worst thing you can ever do is to make someone put you down and lower yourself esteem. That ex-boyfriend of yours who always wanted you to dress up, wear heels, and look sexy for him all the time, isn’t and never will be “the one”. Your future husband will think you look beautiful in sweats and encourage you to be the realest version of yourself you’ve ever been.

2. The people who tell you your dreams are crazy and you should get a real job will still be stuck in the same place they are 10 years from now. You don’t have to be, so keep pursuing your dreams, never give up and watch all your dreams become a reality. Most people never thought I would achieve my dreams of becoming a lawyer, but look at who I am now? Exactly what the said I’d never be, A Lawyer!!! So never let anyone tell you what you can an can’t be.

 3. Your true friends are the ones who are there for you, who listen to you and who support you in healing, but don’t enable you to play the victim in your own life. True friends will call you on your sh*t and empower you to grow. And always remember actions speak louder than words, if one claims to be a true friend look at their actions more than you listen to their words.

 4. This is one lesson I got to learn the hard way, giving your power away never ends well. In the moment, taking responsibility might seem like the most painful route, but trust me when I say that taking ownership over the choices you make in life will save you from a lot of pain and healing work in the future.

7

5. If making-out and sex are the only activities you get up to with the guy you have a crush on, he’s not going to make you his girlfriend. Guys who are in it for more than just physical interaction will call to ask how your day was, take you for walks, and introduce you to their friends. Don’t convince yourself that you can trade sex for love, it never works that way. So if he is the one, he will wait!

 6. Well most of us believe when we turn 18 we are now fully fledged adults who can have a family and be president! I hate to burst your bubble but your brain doesn’t fully develop until the age of 24. You’re going to make mistakes, a lot of them. Consider the possibility though, that your mistakes are actually lessons so don’t beat yourself up for making the wrong decisions. Actually most of the mistakes I have made in life have been of such significance in my life as now I know what not to do.

 7. When you are lashing out at someone you love, it’s actually because you’re hurting a lot inside and you have something you want to say but don’t have the courage. Say it anyway. Be clear about what you want, what you don’t want, and what you need. People will respect you more, and you’ll be a lot happier too.

8. You are not invincible. Sleep at least 7 hours a night, drink water instead of booze at a party, and skip the drive-thru (especially Kfc lol). Drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or pulling all nighters every weekend will eventually catch up to you. It might not happen until your 30’s or 40’s, but healing is always more challenging than prevention. Take care of yourself while you’re young and spare yourself the trouble.

 9. Don’t give up on your talents and hobbies. If you love sports, playing music, or writing, keep doing it. If you ask most adults who gave up, they’ll tell you how much they wish they would have continued on with their piano lessons, or followed their hearts and pursued their athletic career.

 10. Failing is winning. This might sound funny to you now, but believe me when I tell you that all of your failures are laying out a path for you to succeed big-time. It’s better to fail before you make it, than to fail when you’ve already made it and lose everything due to lack of experience. And even if you do lose everything, you can make it all back and then some. Life is full of surprises, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

 11. Be consistent. Being flaky doesn’t just impact your relationships, it impacts your self-esteem and anxiety levels. When you say you’re going to do something or be somewhere, follow through. This also ensures you think twice before committing to something that doesn’t actually inspire you.

 12. Practice saying “no” in the mirror. There will be times where you’ll have to tell someone “no” and it will scare you, but you have to set boundaries for others or you’ll end up feeling used. There are some people in your life you will never understand, and maybe not even like. Make the best of it. But if you realize they are harming you, avoid them and say NO to them. Don’t let them suck the air out of your spirit.

 13. It’s no one else’s fault when you’re not happy. Sure, there may be people in your life who don’t belong there, but it’s up to you get rid of the people who bring you down, call you names or make fun of you for dreaming big.

14. Never take nutrition or dating advice from Magazines. Most of the stories are made up anyways, and the nutrition advice is just based on corporate sponsorship. If you really want to be healthy or have a good relationship, read books and listen to your intuition.

15. Your intuition is almost always right. If your gut tells you the new guy is bad news, walk away. As you get older, you’ll come to trust that your gut is your most trusted advisor. This is true on so many levels! You have no idea girl!

 16. Sometimes our/your mom is actually right. It may be virtually impossible to convince you to take the advice mom gives you over dinner one night, but chances are she learned the hard way. Learning your own lessons is very important, but feel free to skip and move ahead once in a while by learning from people who have “been there, done that”.

 17. Don’t rush to grow up. One day, you’re going to be married, have kids, or comment on how your cat is so lucky that they don’t have any responsibility. Just enjoy this time you have to be young, and hopefully care-free.

18. Save your money and never put all of it into a joint bank account with a boyfriend. Make sure you take care of yourself first and have a nest egg set aside just in case there’s an emergency, or change of heart. Many will claim that such a move shows you are not fully committed but that is not your problem learn but to put yourself first and like the Bible says, Guard your heart my dear one =)

 19. Your natural hair color is and always will be the prettiest. You were made perfect exactly how you are. It’s ok to experiment, just remember that changing the way you look can never change who you are inside, and that is what matters most.

20. Everything is going to be ok. You’re going to lose people, get your heart-broken, feel alone, and totally depressed. Nothing is ever permanent, so next time you’re wrapped up in thoughts of how awful everything is – visualize the way you want things to be instead. Eventually, the tide will turn and life will be more amazing than you ever thought possible.

In conclusion my dear sister, you are just one infinitesimal speck of existence in the vast canvas of reality. Realize that. At the same time, God values you infinitely, and so should you. Always remember;

Good things in life take a long time.

Also All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.

God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.

There are a few more things I’d like to say, but I can’t remember them right now. I’ll tell you later.

Actually, my sister, I cannot tell you anything, let alone these 20 things. So try your best to figure this all out on your own as soon as you can. Learn from your mistakes. And live so that someday you won’t have to wish you could tell your younger self anything.

If you could turn back the clock and give advice to your younger self, what would it be?

As always thank you reading =)

WILL I QUIT BLOGGING? http://www.missturu.com/will-i-quit-blogging/ http://www.missturu.com/will-i-quit-blogging/#comments Wed, 08 Mar 2017 17:40:52 +0000 http://www.missturu.com/?p=1216

Hey!

Happy new month! I hope your chapter 3 of 12 is off to a good start. Well on my end, sigh! Let me just say I have questioned why I blog and I had half the mind of bringing it to an end. As much as I get positive comments on my social media platforms sometimes the negative ones do get to you as well.

That is the lesson I am taking home as I begin my 3rd Chapter out of 12, not everyone will like you, not everyone will be happy when you are doing well and that is fine. Keep your head high and let your dreams be bigger than your fears! And to think I almost let them get to me.  So hell No! I am not quitting on my blog =)

Enough of opening up for one post!

Thank you for all the kind comments on my YouTube channel! For those of you who haven’t watched it kindly do check it. Just go to You-tube and search Miss Turu =)
